Pfeffer values the uniqueness of each student and endeavours to create an individual and motivating learning environment that meets the high artistic pedagogical demands of our time.
Nicolai Pfeffer equips his students for the technical and artistic challenges of the repertoire and is proud of their successes: many are prizewinners at national and international competitions, have passed auditions in orchestras and, after passing entrance examinations, have been accepted at renowned music academies in cities such as Paris, Bern, Lübeck, Weimar, Cologne, Zurich, Freiburg and Geneva.
His teaching style, which is characterised by intensive artistic activity and academic and didactic research, focuses on contextualisation and stylistic awareness and encourages students to develop a personal musical interpretation.
In his teaching, Pfeffer follows the Heraclitean ideal that 'education does not consist in filling vessels, but in kindling a fire'. He believes that a passion for learning, a thirst for knowledge and curiosity are essential factors for both learning and teaching. His job as a teacher is not only to nurture this passion, but also to keep it alive by awakening enthusiasm for the unknown.
