It is difficult to find original literature for beginners on the clarinet. Many pupils who have not yet mastered the full range of the instrument are delighted when they are allowed to play a complete work with piano accompaniment! At the same time, they are introduced to the form of multi-movement sonatinas and sonatas.
The clarinet part is exclusively in the low register (chalumeau register), i.e. without overblown notes. The piano part is printed as an accompaniment for both C and Bb clarinets. It is not difficult and can also be performed well by advanced students or teachers of piano as a subsidiary subject. Stylistically, the "Sonatinchen" is in the area of functional, easily comprehensible classical music.

“About the Chalumeau: It has a not very pleasant tone. ”
