After the Grande Concerto in F minor op. 5 (HN 1209), we continue our series of Crusell clarinet concerts with the Concerto in B flat major op. 11. Although technically very demanding, the Concerto in B-flat major avoids exaggerated virtuosity and impresses with its melodic ingenuity. A very welcome addition to the clarinet repertoire of early Romanticism, curated in an exemplary way by clarinetist Nicolai Pfeffer, faithful to the only surviving source, the first edition of 1829. Johannes Umbreit is responsible for the easy-to-play piano reduction.
